Kama McKenzie, Young Carers Service Manager (Maternity Leave)
“Hello, I’m Kama and I’m the Service Manager for the Young Carers Team. I just joined the Young Carers Team in July 2016. I have been working with young people (including young carers) since ever I was a young person myself! I love working on any job that makes a positive difference to young peoples lives. I am a parent carer for my eldest son.
I am slightly obsessed with the colour purple (you can always spot me because nearly all my clothes are purple) and I enjoy spending time with my family.”
Pamela Iyer, Young Carers Service Manager (Maternity Leave Cover)
“I’m Pamela, I’m the Young Carers Service Manager. I’ve worked in health and social care for 15 years, and I was really keen to work with young carers because I was a young carer myself for my mum.
In my spare time I like to cook and hang out with my family. I also like doing crafts, going to music festivals and visiting new places. I’m really happy to be here at the Carers Support Centre and I’ll always do my best for the young carers I work for.”

Martine Johnson, Bristol Senior Young Carers Development Officer
Hello, I’m Martine and I’m delighted to have joined the team in Bristol. I line manage the Bristol Young Carers team to improve the health, well-being of Young carers and safeguard the interests of children and young people adversely affected by their caring roles for family members. My working days are Tuesdays-Fridays”
I’ve previously worked with young carers and their families for many years. My passion for working in this area stems from personal experience of being a young carer myself. I feel this given me a good insight into understanding the needs of young carers but also recognising how amazing you all are!
In my spare time I enjoy being out in nature exploring new places, whether it’s climbing hills or walking along beaches. I also love going to festivals in my campervan.
