Écoute Theatre Company’s ‘Take Care’

Are you a carer for the elderly? Do you have a story to share?

Ecoute Theatre Company want to talk to you. They are a verbatim theatre company, creating a show that focuses on the stories and experiences of carers of the elderly. They are on a nationwide search for carers from all backgrounds and sectors, their aim is to provide a platform from which your voices can be heard.

Take Care is a verbatim production, which means that we interview as many people as we can, transcribe the interviews, edit them down into a script and perform them word for word. Anonymity and discretion go without saying, and all carers will receive the edited script for their approval before we go into production.

Take Care first premiered in 2014, with a sold out run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received 5* reviews and a London transfer. We are now expanding on the original production, interviewing more people and asking the question – in five years, has anything changed? What does it mean to care? How much are we willing to give, and how much are we willing to give up?
