South Gloucestershire Consultation Including Events: Bettercare Stronger Communities Funding

The consultation will close on 9th September 2019 and it’s an important consultation for carers to respond to.

South Gloucestershire Council have a strong track-record of working with and supporting the local voluntary and community sector, including Carers Support Centre. Better Care Stronger Communities Funding has offered stability to the sector with 3 year funding arrangements. National austerity measures and increasing demand for statutory services means that the Council has to make significant savings across all of their budgets. All areas of the Council’s activities have savings targets to achieve. South Gloucestershire Council has said that they want to continue supporting the voluntary sector in South Gloucestershire to thrive but also need to make reductions in the level of funding available, which could include carers’ services.

It is in this context the councillors have asked for a consultation on the proposal to reduce Better Care Stronger Communities Funding and specified voluntary sector activities, beyond March 2020.

South Gloucestershire Council welcomes comments on the proposals from carers.
